Every Thursday I host the Social Media Maven blog on CWAHM.com and wanted to share today’s post with you…
Today I want to talk about increasing your Facebook fan page fans. It is tough for someone starting out, especially if you do not already have a solid support base to begin with. So, what do you do? Like a traditional ‘brick-and-mortar,’ after you stock the shelves and hang out the open sign, you have to do a little advertising, only with social media it’s more networking than advertising.
I bet you’re asking me, “But WHERE do I find the people on Facebook to network with if I don’t already know them?”
You to go to the networking events. Yes, they have those on Facebook. One I was at recently, within 4 minutes of opening the event 215 people had already posted their page link! read more…

Whether sending out a sales blast to your customers and clients or keeping in contact with a newsletter, email marketing is important. Though I don’t think it will ever truly replace physical advertisements and newsletters showing up in people’s mailboxes, with the evolution of the Internet and instantaneous connections, it is rapidly picking up speed. And it’s no wonder. People want that instant connection; they don’t want to wait five to seven business days for their mail to be delivered so they can clip the coupon and go buy that item they knew would be going on sale. For a tech exec not to have a virtual assistant on staff is for a king not to have his knights or a coffee shop not serving coffee. Scratch that. It would be the same as a king CHOOSING not to have or make use of his knights, being a wayward traveler and lone ranger or a coffee shop CHOOSING not to serve coffee. Read the rest of this entry »

What is it about college students and telecommuters? If you follow them they most assuredly will lead the way to a local coffee shop with Wi-Fi access, which is usually free. There seems to be something about coffee shops that make one’s Wi-Fi experience just that much better. Could it be that coffee and computer work goes hand in hand? Read the rest of this entry »

All the news is abuzz with the latest scandal. In case you have been out of touch, it involves a politician, an indecent photo and Twitter. Last week Gennette Cordova, a college student, received a lewd picture from the Twitter account of New York Congressman Anthony Weiner.
Many interviews and press conferences ensued. From there the media took over hounding Congressman Weiner with relentless questions regarding his social media accounts and social media practices. Even to the extent of question specific individuals he follows on Twitter. Read the rest of this entry »

Do you know about the Facebook app “Networked Blogs?” It is an app designed to further the reach of your blog by networking with other bloggers you are connect with on Facebook. One of my favorite features is that I can select blogs of my friends to ‘follow’ and access the app to check up on any updates I might have missed.
NetworkedBlogs is an excellent way to network with your blog. Try it today! (Follow my blog while you’re at it, will ya?)

Working From Home by Graur Razvan Ionut
Continually generating work and having clients in the lineup is essential to having a steady stream of work. Of course, it goes without saying (but I’m going to say it anyway) that a steady stream of income comes along with having a steady stream of work. So, how do you generate those leads and have the clients lined up, waiting to work with YOU? Read the rest of this entry »

Many of my clients are able to tell me what they want with one caveat – they do not know how to get it done or how to make it happen. As a virtual assistant it is my job to figure it out – freeing up my client’s time on revenue generating tasks.

Over the years of making things happen and figuring things out, I have picked up a few programs here and there and want to share them with you. These are programs that, for whatever purpose, have stuck with me and I continue to use today. Read the rest of this entry »

I cannot express how important it is to do your due diligence, especially when starting your own business.
When I first set up shop as a virtual assistant (VA) I was all over the place. I had an idea of what I wanted to do, just was not sure how to get started. I spent hours and hours and hours and hours researching this and that – just looking things up. I even remember one of the very first VA sites I found was that of CWAHM’s very own, Diana Ennen. Though doing your due diligence will vary from person to person, below are specific items I suggest you include in your research, especially if you are setting up shop as a new VA.
